With Christmas just around the corner, November saw Central Convenience Stores host its annual trade show which proved a huge success with visitors.

Held at the Bournemouth International Centre, it was a superb opportunity for suppliers to showcase their new and existing ranges to the one of the south’s biggest independent convenience store chain in the UK. It was also the perfect chance for store managers to meet suppliers and learn about the products while taking advantage of ordering hundreds of trade show ‘on the day’ deals.

Drawing an estimated 400 visitors, which included store managers, Central staff, and employees of Bestway Retail and Bestway Wholesale, the one-day show saw over 80 stands showcasing household names from Central’s new and existing ranges including Coca-Cola, Walkers and Kellogg’s as well as local brands such as Southampton-based Pensworth Dairy. Visitors were also treated to a presentation from Cadbury’s, which introduced its new and exclusive loyalty card ‘buy 9, get the 10th free’ Crème Egg scheme.

After a productive morning, the afternoon session saw an important trading update from Operations Director Dave Lenz, who introduced staff to Central’s new owners Bestway.

Central’s Trading Manager, Stephen Phillips said: “We’ve seen brilliant results from this year’s trade show. Our aim is always to put convenience store owners face-to-face with some of the biggest brands and suppliers in the UK and this event did just that.

“It was also a fantastic opportunity to introduce staff to our new owners, Bestway. We are looking forward to a successful year ahead and are excited to be at the forefront of the convenience store retailing industry.”

The trade show didn’t just benefit those attending; it also had a positive impact on local charities. Left over stock from the event was donated to a local food bank and other items, such as advent calendars, are set to be given to children at a nearby hospital.

Central Convenience Stores operates in the south and southwest and currently has more than 100 managed and franchised stores.
