New store opens in the heart of Southampton
Central Convenience Stores has added a new branch to its growing portfolio.
The company has acquired popular newsagent, Sweetmarket, based at Southampton High Street. All existing staff will be retained as part of the deal, which will bring significant investment to the popular store.
A refurbishment project is currently underway, with new displays and chillers being installed to make way for Central’s great selection of products.
Previous owner Kevin Shovelar said: “After nearly 12 years at the store I’m looking forward to seeing how Central Convenience Stores will take the shop to the next level and continue to serve the local community in the way we have. There is a bright and happy future for our staff, who customers have come to know and love over the years.”
Central Convenience Stores area manager Patrick Wills added: “Sweetmarket has a fantastic reputation and we’re delighted to add it to our growing portfolio of stores. It means customers in the centre of Southampton have even better access to the great deals and convenience that Central is synonymous with.”
